FAQ

Q:What is a domain name?

A: A domain name is a web address, such as www.maxill.com, that is linked to an IP address (which represents a physical point on the Internet). When someone types a domain name into a web browser, the requested web page displays.

What is hosting?

A: A web host is a company that has computers that are hooked up to the internet 24/7. These computers are called servers and they are assigned IP numbers that make them visible to other computers hooked up to the internet. Servers are the physical location where the files that make up your website are stored. When you type a web address into the address bar of your web browser, your browser sends out a request to 'get' that web page. The request travels across the internet to the appropriate web server to find the page you requested.

Do I own my website?

A: Yes, you can discontinue hosting with maxill at any point. We will provide you with the files that makeup your website but we are not responsible for any problems that may occur when moving your site to a new location.

Do I have to host my site with maxill?

A: No, you are free to host your website with your own service provider.

Can I use a domain name I have already registered?

A: Yes, we will work with you to transfer your existing domain name.
